چکیده
Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) includes a diverse set of conditions ranging from high-grade aggressive to more indolent low-grade disease. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has a valuable role in the management of these conditions and can provide long-term remission in selected cases. This article presents the current use of allogeneic and autologous HSCT in a number of subtypes of NHL.

Role of Stem Cell Transplantation in the Treatment of Burkitt Lymphoma; A Systematic Review
Background: Burkitt lymphoma is a common subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in children. It has a rapid and aggressive clinical course with frequent involvement of bone marrow and central nervous system. Systemic chemotherapy is the mainstay of the treatment for this malignancy in children. In this systematic review, we discuss autologous and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSC...
متن کاملRelation between Age, Gender, Number of Blood Products Received and Diagnosis with Engraftment and Length of Hospital Stay in Patients Undergoing Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation
Background and purpose: Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation may be one of the best treatment options for some patients with hematological malignancies. The process of stem cell homing in the bone marrow and the production and proliferation of denovo cell populations is called engraftment and could be considered as one of the key factors in the success of stem cell transplantation...
متن کاملComparison of high-dose therapy and autologous bone marrow transplantation for T-cell and B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.
Advanced T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in adults has been found to have a poor outlook with conventional chemotherapy. To see if this extends to patients treated with high dose therapy and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, we reviewed the results with this treatment approach at our institution. From October, 1983, to May, 1988, 41 patients who underwent high-dose therapy and a...
متن کاملHigh-dose therapy in lymphomas: a review of the current status of allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplantation in Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Autologous stem cell transplantation has proven to be beneficial in selected patients with Hodgkin's disease (HD) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). In patients with HD, transplantation appears to increase event-free survival in patients who fail to enter complete remission with initial therapy. When a patient relapses after a complete remission, transplantation is probably the best option and p...
متن کاملMonoclonal antibody therapy with autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
BACKGROUND With the introduction of novel monoclonal antibody products into the clinic, significant new strategies are being developed to improve upon existing treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. METHODS Monoclonal antibodies are being used alone, in combination with chemotherapy, or as adjuncts to autologous bone marrow transplantation for the purpose of purging bone marrow of neoplastic c...
متن کاملTandem high-dose therapy followed by autologous stem-cell transplantation for refractory or relapsed high grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with poor prognosis factors: a prospective pilot study.
We conducted a tandem autologous stem cell transplantation procedure for patients with relapsed or refractory high-grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (HGNHL) or with transformation of indolent lymphoma (n=15). These patients had poor prognosis factors. The procedure was well tolerated, ten patients were in complete remission. Overall survival rate is 67%.
